Being eco-wise is about living a simple life and celebrating the creations of nature. There are many simple alterations we can make in our house to play our small part in building a more eco-friendly home. In this blog post, you can find some simple tips on how to build a more eco-friendly home.
Zero food wastage in the kitchen:
Two of the most burning issues, our world is facing now are food shortage and starvation. But the most disheartening fact is that worldwide a huge amount of food goes to garbage bin every day. We should be more responsible and mindful in a way that no food is discarded or thrown away. The method is cost-effective also. The first step towards zero food wastage in the kitchen is to reduce packaging, utilizing the maximum percentage of food items, cook wisely, repurposing the leftovers, and composting the rest.
Repurposing water from elsewhere to put in plants:
We should save the most precious natural resource. We can reduce water usage we can repurpose water. This is a process of storing wastewater that can be reused for other purposes. Reuse may include irrigation of gardens and agricultural fields or replenishing surface water and groundwater.
Make your compost:
Many times it has been observed that the most efficient eaters also end up generating food scraps to throw away at the end of the meal. But instead of throwing them into the trash, you can create your own compost in your house and store them in the bin for composting. Putting food waste in the compost bin can reduce methane emissions from landfills. So, this is a small change we bring to our home that can have a great impact on our environment.
Spend on solar lights:
Solar lights are Sunlight powered lights. Now, many countries like India, Russia, the USA, have become the torchbearers of the Green revolution as they are pushing for Solar energy optimization. Using solar lights is eco-friendly and as these lights are generated by the solar panels, it lowers our power consumption bills.
Use natural cleaning products:
Instead of using chemicals for most day-to-day cleaning purposes, you can opt for products like vinegar, citric acid from citrus fruits, and bicarbonate of soda.
Buy recycled products:
Buying recycled products, whenever possible, is a great idea which can lead to a far more eco-friendly home.
Apart from the above, you can wash clothes in cold water, switch off the lights whenever not in use, use energy-efficient lights, decorate with house plants, donate your old stuff to make your home more eco friendly.
