It is easy to grow tired of a particular home layout or furniture arrangement, no matter how well designed it is and then there is the need for redesigning it. Sometimes the way to redecorate a room is not to buy new furniture or upholstery. It can be done by rearranging the old stuff in a new and creative way. Continue reading the blog post to get some tips from Shreya on how to make a home look new without spending any extra money.
Get rid of the clutter:
Before you start doing any rearrangement, clean up, and de-clutter the room. This is applicable for accessories as well as small or large pieces of furniture. Try to keep the things that are absolutely necessary and serve essential purpose in your house. Evaluate your requirements for everything in the room and get rid of whatever doesn’t fit your need.
Consider the layout:
Look at the layout of the house and the furniture before you do any alterations to your house. If there is movable furniture like a bookshelf or chair or a cabinet that you think will look better at another angle or in another corner of your house, please give it a try. In fact, you can do this with other furniture and spaces also.
Pay attention to focal points:
Try to identify the possible focal points in your house that you would like to redesign. You can think of redonning your fireplace or the area near the window. If your room does not have an architectural focal point, try using TV as one.
The trick is to arrange the larger furniture first keeping the focal point in mind. These are your anchors and once you are done arranging them, place the smaller pieces around the anchors.
As many people are working from home now, your living room can double as your home office. Try arranging a sofa so that it divides the room into two sections. Once this is done, you can bring in some pieces that may have cluttered in a different room.
Revamp your terrace:
During this lockdown, home gardens, terrace, and balconies have become a place of refuge. If you have one, utilize this time to spruce it up. You don’t have to rearrange things always; a deep cleaning can also give a fresh look to your favorite place. So, you can start by scrubbing and replacing the old pots. Clean the terrace furniture with warm water and mild washing liquid. If you want to replace any furniture, consider moving the older ones outside. If you have a covered balcony, keep some fluffy floor pillows and add some color with an outdoor rug.
Bring in a plant:
A little bit of green life in your space can make the overall aesthetic a lot nicer. Decorate the focal point of the room with some low maintenance house plants. This will give a fresher look to your house.
Add a mirror:
If possible, add a mirror to your house. Mirror will create reflection and make your room look brighter and bigger.
