7 Brilliant Tips That Would Help You To Achieve A Sparkling Home This Diwali

Diwali cleaning ritual is an essential part of the celebrations, as it is believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. As per tradition, it is believed that the goddess of wealth ‘Laxmi’ enters only those homes that are clean at the time of Diwali. In the modern context, you can consider Diwali cleaning as an annual deep cleaning exercise that will remove all the dust, harmful pathogens and unwanted stuff from your house.

Diwali cleaning is also necessary to achieve a sparkling look for your home during the festive season. The decorations such as lights and rangolis will come out better in a neat and tidy home. To make things easier for you, here are seven tips to clean your home this Diwali.

Start early: Don’t wait until the last moment to start cleaning your home. We often assume that it won’t take much time and tend to procrastinate. Only when we start cleaning things, we realize that it will take much longer than we had estimated. If you start early, you can do the cleaning in phases. This will reduce your daily workload during Diwali, a time when there are lots of other things to do apart from cleaning.

One room at a time: If you target the entire house all at once, you will probably create chaos and inconvenience everyone in the house. Target one room at a time so that cleaning can be achieved without any hassles.

Linear approach: For best results, start with rooms that are farthest from the entrance. Ideally, this would entail starting with the bedrooms, then the kitchen, and lastly the living room. This way, the areas already cleaned would not be disturbed by ongoing cleaning in other rooms.

Throw out unwanted stuff: We often tend to accumulate stuff even when we haven’t used it for several months. Diwali is the best time to get rid of unwanted stuff from your home. It could include various things such as old clothes, unused kitchen utensils, old gadgets and electronic devices, old furnishings and decoration items, etc.

Keep or discard: There can be things that you are not sure whether to discard or keep. In such cases, you can keep these items in a separate bag. When you get time, you can think about these items more carefully and make a decision accordingly. This approach will eliminate the possibility of any regrets about throwing away stuff that might actually have been useful.

Have the right tools: With the right equipment, Diwali cleaning can be a lot easier. In addition to the standard broom, you will need equipment like a vacuum cleaner, house ladder, duster, spin mop, and glass and metal cleaning liquid.

Involve your children: If your kids are in their teens, you can involve them in Diwali cleaning activities. It would be a fun learning experience for them and you will get some help in the process.

It’s fun when we clean our homes during Diwali, as we often come across stuff that we never thought existed. It’s also great when family members join in to help with the cleaning, something that strengthens our relationship bonds. Diwali is also the time for socializing with friends and associates, so a sparkling home is a must for making the right impression.
